Desert Bighorn Council Meeting 2027
Save the Date: April 20-23, 2027
Grand Junction, Colorado
The 59th meeting of the Desert Bighorn Council will be hosted by Colorado Parks and Wildlife and hosted on the beautiful western slope of Colorado in Grand Junction.
Grand Junction is centered between the Rocky Mountains and the Utah red rock desert and boasts a variety of wildlife populations including desert bighorn sheep. Spring in Grand Junction is mild and
cool, offering comfortable temperatures for exploring the nearby canyons and mountains. The meeting will include opportunities to see desert sheep including a field trip likely to feature the
Colorado National Monument and the Dominguez Canyons.
Many details are still being finalized, but the meeting will be on April 20 - 23, 2027 at the Grand Junction Convention Center. Lodging blocks will be available when registration opens in October of
this year for the hotels near the Convention Center and the lovely downtown Grand Junction. We look forward to seeing you all there!
Sponsorships for the meeting and donated items for the silent auction or raffle can be directed to Genevieve Fuller at genevieve.fuller@state.co.us.
The Awards Committee is requesting nominees to be considered for recognition by the Desert Bighorn Council. Names of nominees to be considered for the Council's Ram Award or Honor Plaque should be sent to Vern Bleich, Chair (vcbleich@gmail.com) by December 31, 2026. Please be sure to include a list of meaningful accomplishments and solid justification for each nominee.
