The 55th meeting of the Desert Bighorn Council will be hosted by the Nevada Department of Wildlife. The 2019 meeting Chairman will be Steve Kimble with Mike Cox as Vice-chair.

Call For Papers

 

The theme of the 2019 Desert Bighorn Council Meeting is Beyond Borders:  Collaborative management recognizing connectivity, disease, and genetics.

 

We welcome papers and posters on all current research and management issues related to bighorn sheep management.  Special guests will focus on this theme.  We welcome papers on all aspects of bighorn sheep research and management. Please submit abstracts for consideration to Brian Wakeling at bwakeling@ndow.org

 

We encourage each state to provide data to Mike Cox at mcox@ndow.org so that we may present a summarized bighorn sheep status update.  Individual state status reports will be included in the Transactions, but each state bighorn sheep lead should confirm their participationn and identify who will represent the state on a panel following the summary presentation.

 

You are invited to submit abstracts for oral or poster presentations. 

 

Instructions for Oral Presentation and Poster Abstracts:

In Microsoft Word format:

  1. Type the title in capital letters and bold font. 
  2. List all authors in capitals using first and last names, followed by their affiliation, address, and contact information in standard letters.
  3. Abstracts are restricted to 250 words and should summarize findings.  Please identify whether the abstract is for an oral presentation or poster presentation immediately after the abstract

Please submit abstracts electronically by March 15, 2019.

Awards Nominations

 

The Awards Committee is requesting nominees to be considered for recognition by the Desert Bighorn Council at our meeting in Mesquite, NV during April 17-19, 2019. Names of nominees to be considered for the Council's Ram Award or Honor Plaque should be sent to Vern Bleich, Chair (vcbleich@gmail.com) by December 31, 2019. Please be sure to include a list of meaningful accomplishments and solid justification for each nominee.
