The 2015 Desert Bighorn Council Meeting was held in Borrego Springs, California. Respiratory disease in bighorn sheep is a serious concern of biologists and veterinarians with major implications for bighorn management. While it has been a significant problem in Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep in the northern states for several years, more recent disease outbreaks in desert bighorn have raised concerns in the southwestern states. Nevada and California have both experienced severe disease mortality events very recently. An important theme of the 2015 DBC conference was respiratory disease in bighorn. We also solicited presentations on desert burros in sheep habitat as well as general papers on bighorn sheep management.
